Study on “The implications of the changing nature of information and communications technology (ICT) on UK competitiveness: IET comments to the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Abstract
On a global scale the UK ICT capabilities have been exemplar for other countries to follow. This is due to the UK’s innovative skills and the development of standards and frameworks such as those defined in ITIL and PRINCE. The more progressive organisations are utilising remote working to drive down costs, improve staff work-life balance, and reduce carbon foot prints through reductions in commuting. ICT needs to be perceived as a benefit to the individual and society, not as a pressure or threat on the individual’s lifestyle, rights or movements. ICT applications should be seamlessly interoperable, portable, resilient, available, secured, flexible, scalable, and with a single convergent user defined interface.
