Transfer or upgrade your membership

Members of the IET can apply to transfer or upgrade their category of membership to Member MIET, Member TMIET or Fellow.

Each application for transfer or upgrade is dependent on your current category, skills and experience. Please refer to the links below for further information on the qualifications, experience and evidence required for each of these categories of membership.

Whilst a lot of members entitled to use designatory letters will have studied for qualifications in a science, engineering or technology related discipline, there are other members who will be able to demonstrate that they have gained their professional engineering profile through years of experience and practice and their commitment to their professional development.

Please note: the transfer form is not applicable for application or transfer to fellowship - please refer to the fellow page for further information.

You do not have to pay anything extra when transferring membership categories but please ensure that you do not have any outstanding membership fees to pay.  You can check your membership fee status online at 'My IET'.
