Transitional fees

An explanation of the transitional IET membership fees available to members of the former IEE upon formation of the new Institution.

On 1 October 2006 two membership fees were introduced - student and full member - in 2006 these fees were £12.00 and £95.00 respectively.  In 2007 the membership fee increased in line with inflation to £97.00 and in 2008 the membership fee increases to £102.00  The student fee has not increased for 2007 or 2008.  

Members of the former IEE affected by a significant increase to their membership fee will be offered a reduced fee for one or two years to ease the transition. The fees are as follows:

If you are not sure of which fee applies to you or how much you have to pay then do not worry.  We will write to you at least one month prior to the date that your next membership fee amount is due to specify the exact amount that you will need to pay to renew your membership.

IET qualified and registered members fees

If you are professionally registered, you are required to pay the IET qualified and registered members fee- please refer to these fees on the membership fees page.

Engineering Council UK (ECUK) fees

If you are registered as a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or an Engineering Technician (EngTech) through the IET, then you will need to pay your ECUK fees at the same time as your membership fee in order to remain on the ECUK register of professional engineers and technicians.
