IET achievement medals

What are they?

The Achievement Medals are awarded to nominees who have made major and distinguished contributions in the various sectors of engineering and technology. The judging panel will look for outstanding and sustained excellence in one or more activities, for example, research and development, innovation, design, manufacturing, technical management, promotion of engineering and technology.

The Faraday Medal is the most prestigious of the IET Achievement Medals.  It is awarded for notable scientific or industrial achievement in engineering, or for conspicuous service rendered to the advancement of science, engineering and technology. 

The other medals in the collection include the:

  • J J Thomson Medal for achievement in Electronics
  • Oliver Lodge Medal for achievement in Information Technology.
  • Ambrose Fleming Medal for achievement in Communications
  • Crompton Medal for achievement in Power
  • Coales Medal for achievement in Transport
  • Heaviside Medal for achievement in Control
  • Viscount Nuffield Medal for achievement in Manufacturing
  • Sir Monty Finniston Award for achievement in any field of Engineering and Technology
  • Sir Eric Mensforth International Manufacturing Gold Medal
